Interview with Jason Scherschligt, UX Manager at Capella University

This is a re-post of an interview with Jason Scherschligt that was originally on my personal blog. It’s a great article for Mix’d Magazine readers.

As an adult learner at Capella University I’ve always wanted more ways to access course content. I was happy to see that Capella launched a mobile initiative to offer a few course tools to the on-the-go student. Currently they offer a native iPhone application and a mobile optimized web site for other devices. While it’s a good first step in the right direction, there is much more work to be done to make this a valuable tool for students.

This review only covers certain areas of the mobile website. The features between the iPhone application and mobile website are exactly the same. Only minor design differences exist.

There are occasions when a mobile application has to include an array of functionality either because the business decided it would be useful or they listened to their customers.
